journal#10: "Gaming"


One of the most exciting sites I have ever visited is Web 2.0. There are a lot of options in it and I chose “Gaming”. This tool guided me to a site where I was able to read different discussions from people over big variety of interesting sites. “Gaming is one of the tools that can be used by all people in different ages with different goals and professions. Teachers (K-12) can use this tool to enhance students learning abilities and help them to build a strong base of knowledge in their lives through playing with related games in this tool. To get better benefits from this tool the teacher should clarifies the curriculum objectives. There are a vast variety of games which each can be used for different subjects by teachers. “Civilization” is one of the games that relates to social studies standards or “Hasbro board” game that involved students with making an online bulletin and post update it or “history Canadian” which includes free game and gives information about 500 years of Canadian history and there are the same sites for different countries too. “Ego of Empires” is another historical game. One of the games that can help teachers to teach the different time on the globe is “Time Attack” game with a character that travels through a dungeon batting trolls while correcting the answers. This tool offers some sites which include different games to stimulate the brain function like solving math problems or reading classic literature out loud and provides competency with other people at the same time. There are also useful sites for teaching physics which can cover some parts of the curriculum in different ways to improve students’ mental abilities. “Brian Age” is a game that students have to set a profile and take tests several times and it gives the average each time, the better performance means the younger age, and it can encourage the learners to seek for the right answers to beat other in their next attempts. One of the sites which teachers in elementary schools can take a lot of advantages from is “Fun school” and there are different games and activities for students such as printing, puzzles, sports, math and science and some advices for teachers and parents to help the learners in their learning processes. As a whole this tool with its enormous exciting sites and games can give the students a lot of information and help them to improve their brain function and activity while making learning amazing and fun for them.
